Access to the Table Mountain Advanced Communications Test Site

Access to the Table Mountain Advanced Communications Test Site is restricted as detailed in 5 CFR Part 7315 CFR Part 7325 CFR Part 736DAO 207-1, and HSPD-12.

  • Badged employees of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DoC) or the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and authorized affiliates and contractors may apply for and receive unaccompanied access, provided that they are U.S. Citizens or permanent residents and that they have a current federal government background security clearance.
  • Individuals who are not any of the above may only visit the Table Mountain site when accompanied by authorized personnel. Visitors not authorized for unaccompanied access must be accompanied at all times by an authorized individual.

The following requirements must be met in order to be granted access to the site:

DoC and USGS employees:

  • Download and fill out the Table Mountain Access Request Form.
  • Email TMSiteManager@ntia.gov or call (303) 497-3593 to request an invitation to submit the form through secure file transfer. Please do not email the form directly!
  • If you have questions please email TMSiteManager@ntia.gov or call (303) 497-3593. 
  • Once the request is approved, you will be given your own individual access code (PIN number). It is your responsibility to keep this number private.

Contractors and Research Affiliates (CRADA partners, etc.):

  • If you have a current federal government background security clearance, follow the procedure for DoC employees above.
  • If you don't have a current federal government background security clearance, you will have to undergo a background check.
    • Email TMSiteManager@ntia.gov or call (303) 497-3593 to begin the process.
    • You will need to visit the DOC Boulder Laboratories to complete the next steps. See Visiting ITS for location and access information.
    • Fill out OF-306 Declaration for Federal Employment and bring it with you for your appointment.
    • The application must be accompanied by a fingerprint card, which will be completed at the DoC Boulder Laboratories Visitor Center when you schedule your appointment.
    • You will need to have a current ID (REAL ID Compliant Driver's License, Passport, etc.) with you when you visit.
    • Foreign Nationals who are permanent residents and applying for access must have two forms of Government ID (e.g. passport and visa) AND your Green Card.
    • There is a processing fee of $122 per application. The processing fee must be paid by check to NTIA/ITS, which will transfer it via government cost center to the DoC Western Region Security Office.
    • Once you are notified that the federal government background check has been completed, download and fill out the Table Mountain Access Request Form.
