June 2010 | NTIA Technical Memo TM-10-469
Abstract: This NTIA Technical Memorandum provides a single, comprehensive set of derivations of the mathematical relationships among power in a radio transmitter or measurement circuit, the associated incident field strength in space, transmitter–receiver antenna characteristics, free space propagation equation variables and radiation hazard limits. An NTIA Electromagnetic Field Strength Unit Converter spreadsheet developed from this Technical Memorandum is available for download here.
Keywords: field strength; antenna correction factor; effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP); hazards of electromagnetic radiation to fuel; hazards of electromagnetic radiation to ordnance; hazards of electromagnetic radiation to personnel; measured power; military standard 461; power in circuits; radiation hazard; RF measurement
