HF ALE Simulator

Eric E. Johnson

Abstract: This manual describes the design and use of a software simulator package for HF radios employing FED-STD-1045/MIL-STD-1988-141A Automatic Link Establishment (ALE). This package employs the simulators for narrow-band HF channels and the standard ALE modem described elsewhere. [See Eric E. Johnson, HF Stimulator: Channel and Modem Modules, July 1991.] This software was developed by Johnson Research under the sponsorship of the Institute for Telecommunication Sciences, National Telecommunications and Information Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, Boulder, Colorado. The initial work leading to the development of the these simulators was sponsored by the U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command, Ft. Huachuca, Arizona.
