Abstract:

This document is a publication by the Office of Telecommunications, United States Department of Commerce. Its issuance is in furtherance of telecommunications information sharing among State and local governments and the Federal Government. This sharing of telecommunications information was recommended unanimously by State representatives at a Conference of State Telecommunications Directors, which was held in Washington, D.C., during the period July 20–21, 1972.

States participating in the program are: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

The conference was sponsored by the Office of Telecommunications, U.S. Department of Commerce. It was attended by representatives of 40 States and 14 major Federal Government agencies. The overall purpose of the conference was to provide a means whereby the States and the Federal Government through the Office of Telecommunications might begin a partnership in the sharing of telecommunications information.
