Abstract: This report describes instrumentation for fading studies and measurement results over an 88-km multiple-diversity line-of-sight microwave link across the English Channel operating in the 4 to 5 GHz frequency range. Signal level and fade, duration statistics derived from the measurements are compared with CCIR models. It is found that median fade duration tends to be less than estimates from the CCIR models.
Keywords: microwave fading; multiple diversity receivers; automatic signal monitoring; signal strength; 5 GHz band
