A Study of Interference Fields in a Ducting Environment

Abstract: In a cooperative program, the Federal Communications Commission and the Institute for Telecommunication Sciences have begun a study of the interference fields that may arise in a ducting environment. This report gives some preliminary thoughts on how enhanced signal levels might be modeled and describes a measurement program that operated in Southern California. Comparisons are made between some of the first-order statistics of the data and two of the possible models and show that there still remains a large gap between our modeling abilities and reality.
