Abstract:
This report describes a feasibility study of an HF telemetry system to be used in gathering oceanographic and meteorological data from 35 buoys. Predictions of long-term circuit performance show that such a telemetry system of nominal characteristics is feasible. Existing U. S. Coast Guard stations provide adequate shore stations for the HF telemetry system. Trade-offs available in the design of the system are identified, and additional studies needed before its actual implementation are recommended.
