Abstract: A computer based simulation model (Hatfield and Adams, 1970) was used to analyze the coverage obtained in the Command and Control and Arctic areas when transmitting CW and FAX from the U. S. Coast Guard's Otis AFB, Cape Cod, Massachusetts facility. The objective was to choose two HF frequencies which would provide nearly the same reliability and coverage as had been attained previously using three HF frequencies. The frequency combination 8502 and 12750 kHz provides be st system operation. Elimination of the third frequency reduces the predicted system reliability by 2 or 3 percent.
