Abstract: Intensive radio and meteorological measurements were conducted on two beyond-the-horizon links during January, February, and March of 1970 to investigate the possible causes of severe fading and to determine corrective action for existing paths in the Delta and improved design considerations for future systems. Measurements indicated that subrefractive conditions were substantially more prevalent than had been expected on the basis of meteorological data obtained from Saigon. Recommendations for improved system design and maintenance are made.
