Abstract: A theoretical study has been performed of the radio frequency interference (RFI) environment for existing electronic equipment and a proposed WSR-57 /MCW weather radar system installation on Holston Mountain and at Tri-City Airport, Tennessee. There are no problems anticipated from RFI standpoint by the installation of Weather Bureau microwave communication using the frequencies 8. 045, 8. 175, and 8. 275 GHz, but a siting problem could develop at the Tri-City airport due to aircraft in the microwave beam. The problem should be examined in greater depth with alternate solutions presented. It is recommended that the proposed Weather Bureau’ s radio and radar systems be installed.
