Calculations of Signal-to-Noise Ratios for Solar Radar Echoes

Abstract: The radar for computing the signal-to-noise ratio of radar echoes from the sun is outlined in this report. The radial distribution of electron density in the corona, the coronal temperature, solar noise, galactic noise, and radar-system parameters are taken into account. Examples are given of computations for two solar radar systems that will soon be in operation.
