An encoder and minimum distance decoder for teleprinter channels with error bursts
Robert J. Matheson; Martin Nesenbergs
Abstract: An operational one -way error correcting system is described that employs an interleaved block code with one -third rate and minimum distance decoding. For each decoded output character, the receiver also provides the minimum distance count. All timing control functions are contained. The system is nominally designed for 60 -or 100 wpm teletype, transmitting over an error-prone VHF scatter radio link.
