Validity of revision factors in updating long-term F2-layer maximum usable frequency predictions,

D. H. Zacharisen; S M Ostrow; Gene C. Huang

Abstract: Based on trends of recent ionospheric and solar data, the IPR series of Semimonthly Revision Factors for ITS Ionospheric Predictions provides corrections to the monthly ITS Ionospheric Predictions for F2-layer MUF. Accuracy of the IPR revision factors was investigated by comparing them with observed data at eight typical ionosphere stations. Results indicate that use of the IPR factors tends to improve the accuracy of ionospheric predictions. Improvement of IPR factors by development of more efficient, objective methods of preparation is recommended.
